How the Bears won
- Caleb Williams, in his second game back from a hamstring injury, went 22-of-33 for 308 yards and two touchdowns (116.7 rating), following a 305-yard game in Atlanta four days earlier. [source]
- Luther Burden III caught 4 passes for 130 yards and a TD, all in the first half, including a 58-yard catch that set up D'Andre Swift's 4-yard touchdown run and a 24-yard screen he took to the end zone with 14 seconds left in the half. [source]
- New England answered Burden's score on the final play of the half, a Drake Maye-to-Rhamondre Stevenson touchdown with no time remaining that cut the Bears' lead to 20-14. [source]
- Colston Loveland opened the second half with a 12-yard TD catch to finish a 9-play, 72-yard drive and posted a season-high 7 receptions for 69 yards. [source]
- Cairo Santos missed two 53-yard field goals in the fourth quarter (one off the upright) before drilling a career-long 58-yarder with 1:34 left to make it 30-21. [source]
- After Andy Borregales' 47-yard field goal made it 30-24 with 37 seconds left, Rome Odunze recovered the onside kick to end it. Odunze had 4 catches for 69 yards, including three 21-yard grabs on the two decisive fourth-quarter drives. [source]
- Drake Maye was 24-of-31 for 321 yards and two touchdowns with a rushing TD, but D'Marco Jackson picked him off in the end zone for the game's only takeaway, and Kyler Gordon sacked him on fourth-and-5 to force a turnover on downs. [source]
- Swift led all rushers with 78 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries; New England managed 70 rushing yards on 17 attempts. [source]
- The win snapped the Patriots' three-game winning streak, moved Chicago to 5-2 (fourth win in five games) and dropped New England to 4-3. [source]
- Tight end Cole Kmet was carted off with a knee injury midway through the fourth quarter, and rookie cornerback Malik Muhammad left with a toe injury. [source]
- The game was played four days after the Falcons win on a short week, and the Bears honored Mike Ditka during the Thursday night broadcast. [source]
The chant after this one
Every win ends the same way: Johnson gathers the room, calls for quiet, and leads the four lines one at a time with the whole team answering. This was chant No. 18 of the Johnson era.
- Johnson handed out four game balls: Luther Burden III (130 first-half yards and a TD), Rome Odunze (69 second-half yards plus the onside-kick recovery), D'Marco Jackson (6 tackles, a PBU and the game's only interception) and Cairo Santos (career-long 58-yard FG after missing from 53). [source]
- Santos' game ball came with the subplot that he had adjusted his approach after the two misses, per his postgame comments, and his 58-yarder was the longest of his career. [source]
- The Good-Better-Best chant closed the speech, and the Bears published the full locker-room video on YouTube as 'Bears postgame locker room after TNF victory vs. Patriots' and on chicagobears.com as 'Ben Johnson postgame locker room speech after win over Patriots.' [source]
- The Bears' own Shorts from the night were captioned 'Good luck falling asleep after this one #postgame #victory' and 'Luther wanted to put on a show #postgame #victory.' [source]
