How the Bears won
- The Bears opened with a 17-play, 80-yard touchdown drive that took 8:32 off the clock and ended in Caleb Williams' 1-yard TD pass to Luther Burden III; Seattle had not allowed an opening-drive touchdown in 16 games. [source]
- D'Andre Swift ran 27 times for 69 yards and three second-half touchdowns (1, 5 and 5 yards), the first Bear with three rushing TDs in a half since Walter Payton in 1977; his 10 rushing TDs through eight games are the most by a Bear since Rick Casares in 1956. [source]
- Williams went 24-of-34 for 247 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions (101.0 rating), extending his streak of 36 straight games with 20+ attempts and no multi-interception game, breaking a tie with Aaron Rodgers for the longest such run in NFL history. [source]
- After Sam Darnold's 7-yard TD to Cooper Kupp and a two-point conversion cut the lead to 20-17 with 11:46 left, the Bears answered with 14 unanswered points. [source]
- Austin Booker blocked a 33-yard Jason Myers field goal early in the fourth quarter and later tipped a Darnold pass that James Lynch intercepted and returned to the Seattle 6, setting up Swift's third touchdown. [source]
- Jeffery Simmons, acquired in a trade the previous week, made his Bears debut and tied for the team lead with 7 tackles while adding a sack, two tackles for loss and a pass breakup. [source]
- Chicago's defense forced four three-and-outs on Seattle's 11 possessions, held the Seahawks to 1-of-11 on third down, and allowed one touchdown on four red-zone trips. [source]
- The Bears' 34 points, 363 total yards and 22 first downs were all the most Seattle's No. 1-ranked defense had allowed in 2026; the Seahawks had not given up more than 301 yards in any of their first seven games. [source]
- The 17-point margin was larger than any Seattle loss in its previous 30 games (including the playoffs); the defending champions' six prior losses since the start of 2025 had come by a combined 17 points. [source]
- Chicago became the first team ever to beat both of the previous season's Super Bowl participants in consecutive prime-time games (Patriots on TNF, Seahawks on MNF), and the win made the Bears 6-2, their best eight-game start since 2012. [source]
- Rome Odunze had a team-high 87 yards on 4 catches; Colston Loveland (7 for 65) and Burden (7 for 56 and the TD) tied for the catch lead. Cairo Santos was perfect on six kicks, including field goals of 44 and 38 yards. [source]
- It was the Bears' third straight win and third straight 30-point game (31, 30, 34), their first such streak since 2020, and Johnson's teams have never trailed in the three games since Williams returned. [source]
The chant after this one
Every win ends the same way: Johnson gathers the room, calls for quiet, and leads the four lines one at a time with the whole team answering. This was chant No. 19 of the Johnson era.
- Johnson gave out three game balls: D'Andre Swift (three TDs on 27 carries), Austin Booker (blocked field goal plus the tipped pass that became an interception) and Jeffery Simmons (team-high tackles and a sack in his Bears debut). [source]
- Johnson told the team the game would be physical and praised them for riding out its ups and downs, then said the Bears 'didn't come here to make a statement' but 'came here to build something, and we're just getting started.' [source]
- Clips of the speech spread widely, with ML Football calling it an all-time locker room speech and fans praising the Bears' culture; the Bears' own Short of the moment was captioned 'Building something special #mondaynightfootball.' [source]
- Simmons also addressed the room after receiving his game ball in his first week with the team, per video of the celebration. [source]
- The full speech is hosted on chicagobears.com as 'Ben Johnson postgame locker room speech after MNF win over Seahawks.' [source]
