How the Bears won
- Chicago ran for 281 yards against the defending Super Bowl champions, with Kyle Monangai (22 carries, 130 yards, TD) and D'Andre Swift (18 carries, 125 yards, TD) both topping 100 — the first time two Bears backs did so in one game since Walter Payton and Matt Suhey on Nov. 10, 1985. [source]
- Swift was the first running back to reach 100 rushing yards against Philadelphia all season; Chicago had 142 rushing yards by halftime. [source]
- Trailing 10-9 after Jalen Hurts' 33-yard TD to A.J. Brown (Jake Elliott missed the extra point), the Bears got a Hurts fumble deep in their own territory late in the third quarter, then drove for Monangai's 4-yard TD — a drive that opened with a 31-yard Monangai run and included a fourth-down completion to Colston Loveland. [source]
- Caleb Williams' 28-yard touchdown to Cole Kmet made it 24-9; Williams finished 17-of-36 for 154 yards and a TD, while Swift's 3-yard run had opened the scoring. [source]
- Kevin Byard's diving third-quarter interception of a Hurts pass to Brown was his sixth of the season, the most in the NFL and his most since 2017; Nahshon Wright forced a fumble on an Eagles tush-push attempt. [source]
- Philadelphia managed just two first downs and 83 yards on 17 first-half plays, finished 4-of-12 on third down, and was outgained in snaps 85-51 and first downs 28-14. [source]
- Hurts threw for 230 yards and two TDs, both to Brown (10 catches, 132 yards), the second a 4-yarder late in the fourth quarter followed by a failed two-point try; Saquon Barkley was held to 56 rushing yards. [source]
- Chicago played without its top four linebackers, with coordinator Dennis Allen leaning on dime packages and blitzes from Jaquan Brisker and C.J. Gardner-Johnson; Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon returned from injuries. [source]
- Johnson credited the win to the offensive line of Ozzy Trapilo (second straight start at left tackle), Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman, Jonah Jackson and Darnell Wright, saying the 281-yard day 'doesn't happen without that offensive line.' [source]
- The fifth straight win moved Chicago to 9-3 and sole possession of first place in the NFC North — one year after a Thanksgiving loss at Detroit had led to Matt Eberflus' firing during a 10-game skid. [source]
The chant after this one
Every win ends the same way: Johnson gathers the room, calls for quiet, and leads the four lines one at a time with the whole team answering. This was chant No. 10 of the Johnson era.
- Mid-speech, Johnson pulled his shirt off over his head and flexed like a pro wrestler as players erupted around him, then led the 'Good, Better, Best' chant bare-chested — believed to be the first time he had done so with the team. [source]
- The stunt paid off a standing offer from Chicago hot dog stand The Wieners Circle, which had posted in late October that it would give away free hot dogs if Johnson ever went topless in a locker-room speech; Johnson had acknowledged the post at an Oct. 24 press conference, and the stand honored it with a free-hot-dog day the following Tuesday. [source]
- Caleb Williams confirmed it to reporters — 'He did take his shirt off' — and called his coach 'a man of the people.' [source]
- Johnson said afterward the players felt good about beating a good opponent on the road and that the staff and players believe in what the team is doing; on Monday he called the shirt removal 'a spur-of-the-moment deal,' joked he wanted to do it before spending any more time away from the weight room, and said his 2-year-old pointed at the TV saying 'No shirt.' [source]
- NFL on Prime Video posted the clip on X the night of the game ('Come for the Chicago Bears victory speech, stay for Ben Johnson going tops off'), and the Bears' own channel titled its speech clip 'GOOD. BETTER. BEST. #lockerroom #victory #speech' alongside a 'Black Friday W!' postgame short. [source]
