How the Bears won
- Chicago led 41-27 with 4:53 left after DJ Moore's 17-yard touchdown run, then watched Cincinnati score twice in the final two minutes — a 22-yard Noah Fant TD plus a two-point conversion, an onside kick recovered by Joseph Ossai, and a 9-yard Joe Flacco-to-Andrei Iosivas TD — to take a 42-41 lead with 54 seconds remaining. - On the answering drive, Caleb Williams found rookie tight end Colston Loveland, who bounced off two defenders and raced 58 yards for the winning touchdown with 17 seconds left. [source]
- Loveland finished with 6 catches for 118 yards; Williams threw for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns, and also caught two passes — a trick-play TD from DJ Moore and a 20-yard throwback from backup Tyson Bagent — making him the first starting QB since 1953 with multiple receptions in a game. [source]
- The 'hot potato' touchdown came on fourth-and-2 from the 2-yard line: Williams threw to Rome Odunze, who pitched to Moore, who lofted it to a wide-open Williams in the end zone — Moore's first career pass completion to a quarterback. [source]
- Seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai, starting for the injured D'Andre Swift (groin), ran 26 times for a career-high 176 yards (6.8 per carry) and had 100 yards by halftime. [source]
- Chicago piled up 576 total yards and a season-high 283 rushing yards (7.6 per carry), scoring on 7 of 9 drives, including each of its first four second-half possessions. [source]
- 40-year-old Joe Flacco, playing through an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder, went 30-of-44 for a career-high 470 yards and 4 touchdowns with one late interception; Ja'Marr Chase (6-111) and Tee Higgins (6-121) both topped 100 yards. [source]
- Cincinnati's Charlie Jones returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown just 11 seconds in; the Bengals totaled 297 kick-return yards on eight returns, 179 of them by Jones. [source]
- Practice-squad call-up Brittain Brown's 22-yard third-quarter touchdown run put the Bears ahead 31-27; Tee Higgins' 44-yard score had given Cincinnati a 20-17 halftime edge. [source]
- The win moved Chicago to 5-3 (five wins in six games); the Bengals' 42 points were their most in a loss since a 51-45 defeat to Cleveland in 2007. [source]
The chant after this one
Every win ends the same way: Johnson gathers the room, calls for quiet, and leads the four lines one at a time with the whole team answering. This was chant No. 6 of the Johnson era.
- Johnson gave game balls to rookies Kyle Monangai and Colston Loveland before leading the chant. [source]
- Johnson, usually subdued at the podium, told the team he knew the finish wasn't pretty but that nobody apologizes for a win in this league — and warned that if a game is close in the fourth quarter, opponents 'better watch out.' [source]
- The Bears' official X account posted the locker-room clip on Nov. 2 with the caption 'GOOD. BETTER. BEST.' — the same title the team used for its YouTube clip of the speech. [source]
- Johnson has said he picked up the 'Good, Better, Best' cheer at A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, N.C., and that the team has embraced it as 'one heartbeat, one voice.' [source]
